YOU ARE WORTHY OF BEING SEEN.

Jake Toler MS, LPC Friendswood Trauma and Grief Therapist

JAKE TOLER MS, LPC

I work with clients who have experienced trauma, whether it be recent or in childhood, those experiencing grief as a result of loss or from other life experiences, people facing terminal illness and the end of life, and those who are interested in engaging in a psychodynamic process to develop insight and awareness into how their past is expressing itself in the here and now. I enjoy working with clients who are ready to experience life more fully and to feel more at home in their bodies. Trauma and grief have a way of disconnecting us from our bodies, causing us to feel isolated and cut off from our own natural path toward healing. Though each client has unique goals, a common goal is to reduce the cumulative stress and anxiety that keeps one from feeling at ease.

My approach is trauma and attachment informed, grounded in body-centered principles and is driven by establishing a non-judgmental empathetic connection with clients. I specialize in offering mindfulness based techniques that can help reestablish your mind-body connection. I strive to find an organic balance of practical, take-home techniques, as well as process-oriented solutions. I firmly believe that you already possess all that you need to heal any wound you have endured.

Experiencing trauma and grief can be painful and disorienting, but you don’t have to struggle on your own. I’m here to provide support and validation for your experience. My ultimate goal is to hear you fully. As a trauma-informed therapist, I see many things that are normally described as problems or deficits as symptoms of being disconnected from one’s body. As children we are born inherently and intimately knowing this connection. Through insecure attachment and traumatization, we lose it. My approach is to help you remember what you already know to be true.

I’m most interested in you. I’m curious about the experience and story that you carry and how it informs your present reality.

In our work together you’ll begin the process of coming back home to yourself. Whether our work focuses specifically on trauma, grief, end of life issues or insight and awareness, we will work in a very similar way. My job is to be a mirror for you and to reflect back what I’m seeing, and to help you not only connect your past to your current situation, but to also reconnect to your body so that you feel an embodied sense of safety and wholeness.

I currently only work with adults. I look forward to connecting with you.
